Keyboard shortcuts
The command palette
Press ⌘K on macOS, Ctrl-K on Windows and Linux, from anywhere in Kaizen.
Type to filter, use the arrow keys to move, and press Enter to go. Press Escape to dismiss it.
The palette reaches every primary surface, plus your own content:
| Entry | Goes to |
|---|---|
| New chat | A fresh session |
| Ask Kaizen in Chat | The chat composer |
| Search | The Search screen |
| Chat history | The Chats library |
| Home | The landing screen |
| About Kaizen | These pages |
| Documents | Your uploads, when enabled |
| Collections, Prompts, Agents, Artifacts | The matching library |
Entries appear only for surfaces your deployment has enabled, so the palette never offers a dead end.
In the chat composer
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Enter | Send |
| Shift-Enter | New line without sending |
| Escape | Dismiss the open popover or menu |
| @ | Find Prompts, Documents, Tools, Connectors, Agents, Collections, and Artifacts |
You can type while the assistant is working. In a private chat that steers the active run; in a collaborative chat it queues the next turn. See Chat.
Slash commands
Type these in a writable composer:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/compact | Compacts earlier model context for the active Chat without changing its transcript |
/compression stats | Opens the local compression measurements panel |
/permissions | Chooses the permission mode for the current Chat |
Slash commands do not add a message, start an answer, prewarm a model, or
consume answer tokens. /compact starts the dedicated background compaction
lifecycle; /compression stats only opens local measurements; /permissions
changes the same conversation control shown beside the composer.
In the Library screens
Chats, Projects, Collections, Prompts, Documents, Agents, and Artifacts share one interaction pattern:
- the search box takes focus first, so you can start typing immediately;
- arrow keys move through rows and Enter opens the focused one;
- saved views, facet filters, and sorting persist in the URL, so a bookmarked view comes back the way you left it.
When you select one or more items, assistive technology announces the shared toolbar as Bulk actions before its available actions.
On these pages
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| / | Focus the search box from anywhere |
| ↑ / ↓ | Move through search results |
| Enter | Open the highlighted result |
| Escape | Clear the search |
| Tab | Move through the sidebar, article links, and on-this-page entries |
Search covers every page's title, headings, and body text. When a match is inside a section rather than at the top of a page, opening the result jumps straight to that heading.
Reading as at the top of the sidebar is the lane control. Choosing Member, Admin, or Developer narrows the whole book — the contents, each section index, and the previous/next links at the foot of every page — so you never page into a document written for someone else. The count beside each lane is how many pages it holds. Your choice is remembered.
Every section heading carries a # permalink, revealed on hover, so you can link a colleague to an exact passage rather than a whole page.
Accessibility
Status changes in chat — queued, active, completed, failed, recovered, cancelled — are announced politely, so they reach a screen reader without interrupting typing. Presence and typing indicators are room-only and do not generate announcements.
